The waitresses/waiters know that they are making lower wages more than most people, but they also get a “tip“ in the price of the meal. In New York City Japanese restaurants are banning tipping. “In New York City, meanwhile, Japanese restaurants are bringing the no-tipping custom Stateside,” (Wrigley, JapanToday). As the world advances things change with it and the Japanese employers are seeing that tipping is taking over America and they are wanting to change that so it won’t be a custom everywhere customers go.
