This novel tells the story of a young girl and her good and bad times. The story goes through the summer when the girl was just six and carries on till a year later in the fall. The narrator is, Jean Louise Finch also known as Scout, and recalls the events leading up to Jem Finch breaking his arm. To Kill A Mockingbird was written by Harper Lee and copyrighted in 1960. To kill a Mockingbird was Lee's first and last novel. After winning the Pulitzer Prize in 1960, Lee never wrote another novel. Lee was told to lengthen the short story to make it a novel by a literary agent in New York and apparently it was a good idea. This novel was probably set in the time it was being written.
