Three important quotes

last quote is Sheriff's Tate's statement at the end of the chapter: That he found the attacker near the tree [Bob Ewell] dead. These quotations set up the closing chapters of the novel.


Chapter 28 title

Title: Attacked

I chose the title to be called "attacked" because Jem and scout were attacked when walking home from the play at the high school, but they didn't know who did it.

Themes

Loss of innocence: when Scout makes it back to the house and sees jem beaten and unconscious it shows her what the real world is really like and how quickly things can change from good to bad.

Justice: when Mr. Ewell attacks Jem and Scout, and "Boo"Radley comes and saves them it shows that there was justice served to Mr. Ewell for lying and having an innocent black man killed.

Most important plot development

When Mr. Heck Tate reveals to the Finch's that it was Mr. Ewell that tried to kill Jem and Scout that night, and that Mr. Ewell was dead with a knife ...
