Before teaching and spending his last years in America, Chinua Achebe was a Nigerian activist who was an important leading figure during and after the Nigerian Civil War. He is most commonly known for his book called “Things Fall Apart”, one of the most academically read African piece of literature. Achebe used to be a professor at Bard College meaning that this author was greatly concerned about education. His case is seen as desperate by his surroundings whereas one from another culture might think that Nwibe went through a fury like some people do on bad days. This put him in a situation in which his precious social status was at big risk until another medicine-man came to “cure Nwibe from his madness.” Altho this story ends fairly well, it could have had a much more dramatic bustle. Nwibe’s life could have been totally ruined do to a lack of emotional and psychological understanding from the Igbo culture.
