Weimar Republic was introduced, the Weimar government had not been popular. For example, the German public widely branded the Weimar government who had signed the unpopular Treaty of Versailles as the "November Criminals" who had "Stabbed Germany in the back". The unpopularity of the Weimar government made the German public think that a different way of government would be better for the country because democracy didn't seem to be working. This meant that the German public looked to the political extremes for an answer, such as the communists or far-right parties such as the Nazis. This can be seen in the second Reichstag elections of 4 May 1924 where the extreme Left and Right gained a significant increase in support. A particular example of this is the Communist Party of Germany who gained 2.1% votes.
