The building of these ships coincided with the Military Spending Increase, which took part from 1900 to 1913. This was where the militaries spent much more to increase their power. The Triple Alliance had, in total, increased their spending by 318% and the Triple Entente had increased theirs by 228%. This ties into the building of the Dreadnoughts and the Arms race. The two camps would not have wanted to spend colossal amounts of money and then waste it, if they were not willing to go to war. This would mean a great waste of money which the country may not be able to afford.
