Wuthering Heights Summary

Cathy doesn’t go to Wuthering Heights, because he father had forbid
her of it. Nelly tells Edgar that Linton is very sick, but not evil like
his father. Edgar is also getting sicker, and as much as he wants to be
with Catherine once again, he is scared to leave Cathy. Nelly tells him
that Cathy will be okay if she marries Linton. Edgar says this would be
okay, even though he hates Heathcliff, because he just wants Cathy to be
happy. Edgar finally allows Cathy and Nelly to pay a visit to Linton,
although he is getting sicker and sicker. They plan tomeet him on the moors,
but a messenger meets them there instead and says that Linton is to sick,
and that they much come to the Heights. ...

her appointment with Linton. Edgar tells her to go, even though she doesn’
t want to leave him. Linton once again acts cold and ignores her, and
Cathy demands to be told why he keeps begging her to come if he doesn’t
really want to see her. He confesses that he is a traitor, and that
Heathcliff will kill him if she leaves. He refuses to tell her anything
more, in fear of what his father will do to him. Heathcliff comes into the
room, and asks Nelly about Edgar’s condition. She tells him that he is
dying, and Heathcliff hopes that Edgar will die before Linton. Heathcliff
locks Cathy and Nelly inside Wuthering Heights. They try to escape, but
cannot. Heathcliff tells Cathy that marrying Linton is the only way that
she will be allowed to go back to the Grange, to see her father before he
dies. Five days later, Zillah finds Nelly locked in a bedroom and tells
her that everyone thought that she and Cathy were lost in the marshland.
