Embryonic stem cells have the ability to change into every type of cell found in an adult human. In one study they were used to help paralyzed mice regain the ability to move. There is a list of diseases that could be cured through the use of embryonic stem cells. Scientists believe that stem cells could revolutionize the way medicine is practiced. Embryonic stem cells are found in human embryos. They are, “plucked from the embryos in the first weeks of life,” (“Obama Stem Cell”). These cells “have the potential to act as repair systems for replacement of damaged cells,” (Eve). The stem cells extracted would eventually develop into a living being. “The embryonic stem cell is believed by many scientists to be the most useful for potential medical treatments;” however, “its use is restricted by federal legislation,” (Eve).
