Born in Michigan, and raised by her grandparents Aileen Wuornos grew up with a dejected life. Her father who was a convicted child molester committed suicide in prison, and her mother abandoned little Aileen as an infant. Aileen was referred as to a “nervous child.” It was said by previous residents that had lived near Aileen and her grandparents, that she was mistreated. Aileen Wuornos was convicted of the murder of Richard Mallory after trial in Volusia County and was sentenced to death. While on death row, it was distinguished that Richard Mallory had previously served time for Attempted Rape. Aileen Wuornos pleaded no contest to the murders of the other 5 men and was sentenced to death in each case. Within two weeks of her arrest, Aileen Wuornos and her attorney sold movies right to her story. Investigators in her case did likewise.
