is a very serious problem plaguing the United States today. More and more teens are introduced to the use of alcohol at exceedingly younger ages. This is a growing problem that is having to be combated in various ways.
Another very serious problem connected to alcoholism is binge drinking. Binge drinking is defined as consuming the equivalent of five drinks in a row for men, or four for women. This particularly occurs on college campuses. The students also reported that there is a “beer-friendly” attitude on the campus and that it is easy for anyone, even under-age individuals, to obtain a keg for a party.

Another national study found that forty-four percent of college students engaged in binge drinking during the two weeks prior to the survey. It also found that the occurrences of binge drinking at colleges vary widely. Some colleges are as low as one percent of their students, while others are as high as seventy percent.
