Most believe this is a psychological disorder because the person become extremely underweight yet they still see themselves as over weight and continue this lifestyle. Diagnosis becomes very difficult because the illness is usually kept a secrete and individuals very rarely seek medical attention because they don’t believe they have a problem. It isn’t usually diagnosed until a friend or family member notices the weight loss and convinces the individual to seek help. By this time underling damage as already been done and this person is most likely malnourished. Although there are four basic criteria for diagnosing anorexia. First, The refusal to maintain body weight at or above a minimally normal weight for age and height, which is a body weight less than 85% of the expected weight.
