Religion is not often viewed as an extreme view. Actually, quite the contrary, religion is a part of normal life for the average American. It has almost become a nearly thoughtless process for most. Wake up Sunday, and go to church. That’s what everyone does. That’s what your grandparents did, and the people before them too. Nobody would ever dare threaten to question it, ever. However, Bill Maher does just that. He questions religion. He even states, “I thinks religion is a neurological disorder that stops people from thinking”. In a way, I can see how Bill would become frustrated with religion. It has caused people to kill and act in ways that have been terrible for the human race. I understand that. However, I disagree with Bill’s views and think that he is wrong about some things. He’s always talking about how the biblical stories don’t make any logical sense and are able to be laughed at in most cases. He thinks the idea of these stories is stupid. However, I personally think that beliefs that have been held for this long of a period of time (thousands of years), holds some ground in an argument. The stories aren’t historical narratives (Bill seems to think so, because he continually talks about the unrealistic possibility of a man living in a fish for three days, etc.) to most Christians/Catholics. But rather these stories are viewed as symbolic. Not taken literally. God inspired people to write these things down, and it has never been proven that God did not inspire the people ...
