Industrialization was a movement that changed how countries operated during the 18th and 19th centuries, but one nation began industrialization before all others. Britain first started to industrialize during the mid 1700s and spread to other European countries. From there it spread to Asia and by the late 19th century most places around the world were industrialized. Industrialization depended on more than just learning from the British, however. The fuel of the industrial revolution was coal, it was used for energy production to power the numerous factories. Britain happened to be located upon a vast coal deposit, whereas other less fortunate countries had to import coal, creating more expenses that slowed their industrialization process. One of coal’s more vital uses was removing iron from its ore. This efficient iron production allowed for advances in technology that further accelerated the industrial revolution.
