I am interested in completing a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology because I hope to improve myself and better my chances for professional growth. I also want to be a role model for my 14 year old son. Hopefully in obtaining my degree, I can encourage him to pursue a college degree himself one day. Furthermore, I chose this area of study because I enjoy being around people and helping those in need. In my current job, I assist people by preparing them for work. In order to better serve my clients, I want to obtain the knowledge and skills necessary to meet their needs.

I believe that interpersonal skills are critical in helping establish relationships with clients. The Bureau of Labor Statistics website states that social workers must have a bachelor's degree in social work (BSW) and can earn up to $50,000 a year ("Social Work, "2010). No previous work experience is required in order to get a job as a social worker but you must have the necessary license or certificate.

My third choice would be a Counselor. In this line of profession you must have the ability to work with a diverse group of people. The education requirements may vary and a master's degree is required to be a license or certified as a counselor. Counselors can earn up to $60,000 and you must have experience as a counselor for employment.
