Did you know that many teenagers get stress over tiny little things in their life? According to a local Wake county organization, Family First Aid: Help for Troubled Teen states, "teen stress is very common among adolescents today. According to a 2009 local high school survey, of the students that participated, 70% said they were "stressed out" on a daily basis." Teen stress is caused by high expectations, heavy workloads, and a lack of time management skills. Most teens have afterschool activities, homework, and jobs on the schedule, but have limited time. After teens have finished their long day at school, when they get home, they are faced with their homework. As you take more difficult classes, you have more homework. Just looking at the amount of work really stresses many teens. Many students are very concerned about their grades/performance in a class, which also impacts their stress levels. If a student has a tremendous amount of homework, but is not able to manage time well, the amount of stress can be overwhelming.

Late nights with all the work leads to a lack of sleep. According to the source from New York Times, the average teenager needs around 9.5 hours of sleep per night. But in reality most teen generally get an average of 6 hours per night. Less sleep can lead to more stress for teens.
