Cyberbullying has been a very controversial issue not only in the United States but within the world. Since the increase and advancements in technology, cyberbullying has been on the rise. Cyberbullying is defined as the use of internet and technology to purposely harm another in a hostile way.

Cyberbullying has similar psychological and emotional outcomes to real life bulling with the exception that school ends every afternoon, the internet is constantly available. Within the past year it has been recorded that over forty percent of teens with internet access have been cyberbullied. Some well known cases of suicide that were a result of cyberbulling are Phoebe Prince from MA, Megan Meier from MI and Ryan Halligan from VT. I think it's really sad that these children younger than me take their lives before they've even had time to grow into themselves or even experienced life. I think it's great that these state laws have been put into place even though it was an effect of such tragic events. These laws need to be updated as technology changes to help those who are being bullied or maybe the federal laws that have been proposed, should be passed.

Many people much like myself before doing some research and looking into this subject, don't care too much about cyberbullying when it doesn't affect them. Cyberbullying wasn't really talked about or publicized until more recently because it usually happens on social networking sites which have become increasingly popular in the past few years. ...
