Snow White

When I saw this ballet I knew that it would be about Snow White and the prince, but this story is so well known it seemed as though Prelijocaj did not focus on the plot but on portraying the feelings and emotions of the characters though there dance moves. He did not exactly stay true to this story, instead put his own spin on it which made this story more interesting. The style of these pieces was modern dance fused with classical ballet. There was also leaping into peoples arms which requires running on the stage. Since the scene was a “montage” of Snow White growing up they had a little girl run and leap into her fathers arms which used most of the stage. I think that the theme of this piece was being able to cope with your situation because snow white only had the man in the black cape who was her father but she still seemed happy and cheerful. If I could ask Prelijocaj (choreographer) it would be “Why did you choose a classic story like snow white?”

The second scene was lighter and much happier. Snow white was older but she and her father where still wearing the same clothing. There were two golden thrones that Snow White and her fathers sat on and then were raised into the air. Every thing was golden and yellow and very bright and cheery.
