Democracy has many features, which are however used in different ways in different countries. Although the fundamental idea remains the same for each feature. The basic ideology of democracy is that democracy gives freedom and uses competitive elections to select its representatives. There are still some countries that do not allow women and other minority groups to cast their vote. Democracy also holds the elected representatives accountable for their acts this sometimes can be a drawback as the citizens who brought them to power have the right to check them for power. wage wars and protests to their presidents and their governments in this way. So we should know that democracy has its imperfections, and its limitations too, there is no perfect system for any form of government but to an extent democracy is perhaps the best we have.
Democracy is taken as giving power to the people, but this is more of an idea, and then reflects democracy in practical reality.
