Being deviant in America is something that is unavoidable, it can be the way that you talk, the way that you dress, the music you listen to, everything that can potentially set you apart and show who you are as an individual can be considered as deviant. Deviance can also come from being physically, emotionally, and even spiritually. Growing up we are taught to think for ourselves and act upon our actions in logical way, but even that can be considered as deviant in the eyes of the people that are judging you. Basically, everything that we do or think can be considered as deviant to those who are onlookers.

During middle school is where I started to fit in with the crowd, I wore Abercrombie and Fitch, and American Eagle, the style that my fellow peers would call as preppy. The Hispanic crowd would be the ones that would set this personal choice of mine as deviant, every time that I would walk past them they would insult me and give me this disgusted look. My choice of clothing was given the deviant label because I am Hispanic and because I wore those particular brands and they didn’t. This went with me every where that I went, it occurred during middle and through high school, it even happen when I went on simple trips to the store or restaurants.
