Theodore Seuss Geisel, more commonly known as Dr. Seuss, wrote many children’s books. Dr Seuss was born on March 2, 1904, in Springfield, Massachusetts. After high school, Geisel went on to graduate at Dartmouth College. He later traveled to England, and spent some time at Oxford University. After dropping out of Oxford, he then traveled around England talking with numerous people, including authors. When Geisel returned to America he soon began drawing and selling cartoons. As World War II approached he began his career as a political cartoonist. Dr Seuss’s first children’s book And to Think That I Saw It on Mulberry Street (which he wrote and illustrated) was rejected 27 times before being published by Vanguard Press.
