Although this society has experienced rapid chance over the past forty years, we still see some segregation in childhood behavior. Growing up for me was never easy. My responsibilities included tending to the housework, helping prepare dinners, doing laundry, and caring for my younger sister everyday of the week. In contrast, my brother’s only responsibility was to mow the lawn once a week during the warm months. The responsibilities lasted throughout my childhood, but as I came closer to adulthood, I began to develop more of an identity, rebelling against conformity and establishing my own independence.
