in this case, women oppression and male dominance are perpetuated as a result of the 'politicization' of the society, as men continued to pursue political, economic, religious, and familial dominance over women.

Main issues that serve as evidence for male dominance throughout the social history of humankind are the following 'legacies' of patriarchy, as enumerated in Lynne Ford's "Women and Politics": names, domicile laws, property rights, and divorce. Family names are a manifestation of how men control the identity of the family that they 'head.' By passing on to his children his surname, males continue their 'legacy' of becoming known and acknowledged not only by his family, but also by his society as the head of that particular family. Similarly, family roles and assignments greatly favor men than women. These are just few examples of the subservience that women are compelled to obey during the early times.
