Adapted from the adolescent hit novel, the film version of the "Hunger Games" has attracted many teenage fans worldwide both girls and boys. Unlike "Twilight" it is more than just a simple love story. Set in the dystopia known as Panem, every year from the twelve districts two tributes must be chosen, a boy and a girl, to participate in the annual "Hunger Games" where only one will survive yet there are two from district twelve who upset this balance of power and thus our story begins.

The main character Katniss Everdeen stays true the book and is played by the once fairly unknown actress Jenifer Lawrence who effectively weaves together the overprotective yet ...

genuinely riveting involving the audience and leaving them on the edge of their seats for more.

Once the "Hunger Games" begin, the true extent of the film's violence is revealed yet it still manages to stay within it's PG13 rating. There is limited blood and gore images despite the vivid descriptions exemplified in the novel. The director took into account the film's audience and designed the film accordingly so as not to create controversy while at the same creating enjoyment for its older viewers. The film does not at all lack in action and the director has inserted as many details from the novel as possible in the two and half hour movie pleasing the long-awaiting fans of the "Hunger Games". Often we see movie adaptations of novels that have completely challenged the original idea of the author, disappointing original fans that have been awaiting the film not to see it transformed by the director's own ideas but a visual version of what they have read.
