self esteem by communicating them through compliments and encouraging them for the things they are doing. To a large extent what we think about us come from others and their messages. If we are given continually negative feedback, our self-esteem and low self-worth in comparison to others will go down. Since our self-esteem affects our behavior, which, in turn, alter the communication performance. Self-esteem also affects the communication as people with low self-esteem may well communicate less than those with high self-esteem. They will be unwilling to take risks in social encounters and would not be confident, persuasive and convincing. They may speak hesitantly and will often over-use some of the cliches for gaining the approval from others. People with high self-esteem will speak confidently and fluently and will generally be willing to take the risk of admitting when they're wrong, which can often contribute considerably to their persuasiveness.
