John Calvin was born on July, 10th, 1509 he died in Noyon, France, he died May 27[th]1564. He was raised in a firm Roman Catholic family. John's father, Gérard Cauvin was chosen by the Bishop to be the administrator of the Cathedral of Noyon. His mother was Jeanne, the daughter of a well-off retired innkeeper, Jean Le Franc. Gérard, wanted John to become a priest, and because of the close ties with the Bishop and his noble family, in John's early life, his friends in Noyon and then later in Paris were culturally prominent and aristocratic. John went to Paris, to attend the College de Marche to prepare for his university study at the age of 14. ...

became dissatisfied with the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church and related himself with the cause of the Protestant Reformation in 1532. When the king of France decided to settle the religious question in his country in favor of the Catholics, Calvin fled to Geneva, Switzerland, where his writings and lectures made Geneva the Rome of Protestantism. His institutes of the Christian religion became the basis for the Presbyterian way of thought and church life. Calvinism is the main doctrine of the Presbyterian and Reformed Churches.
When Calvin came on the scene, the Middle Ages were nearing their end. Consequently, he connected the border of an old and a new age. His struggles against the church of Rome were not new.
