whether they are alive or dead, their color, their texture, and their smell. These are ways to intrinsically motivate all children. The natural world is so far away from most parents in today's society. It is important that we address these issues and inform them of the benefits at hand when introducing the idea of an outdoor classroom because understanding the value of these experiences; parents can begin to provide similar experiences at home.
I liked the premise of this article which is that nature needs to be introduced in more classrooms around the world. Research reported by Susan Linn found that for every hour of television preschool aged children watch a day, their risk of obesity goes up 6 percent. That is a scary statistic, in my opinion. When a simple solution to help bring that number down is just to introduce children to the outdoor world, how can we not take advantage of that?
