The definition for change from Webster's Standard Dictionary is "the process of altering; a substitution; a transformation." Todd D. Jick and Maury A. Peiperl in "Managing Change: Cases and Concepts" defines change as" a planned or unplanned response to pressures and forces."(p. xvi). Change that occurs in nature is known as evolution.
