The American Psychiatric Association, APA DSM-5, is a clinical assessment tool that is utilized to measure substance abuse, depression, anger, anxiety, somatic symptom, sleep disturbance and repetitive thoughts and behaviors.

The DSM-5 is utilized a lot in the substance abuse field in the State of Missouri. Once it is used to diagnosed substance abuse it also helps identify other diagnoses the patient may suffer from and use the illegal substances to fix.
