When I’m alone and lonely and curled up in bed, I can always depend on an old friend to tuck me into their world, completely obliterating, for a time, all memory of woe. Tattered edges and dog eared pages are a testament to our long adored acquaintance. I snuggle down into my comforter, cradle my book in my arms, and am completely at home. I feel that deep need for some good old fashioned adventure, feel it prickle beneath my skin, like fizzy soda, when I walk into a book store or library.
