Personal Writing: My Mom


The most important person in my life happens to be my mom. Everyday that goes by, she inspires me to work harder. She is the centerpiece in my life and I do not think that I would or could be the man that I am today without her.
She is known by many as Ms. Cowan, but to me she is just mom. She has her head on straight and her goals set high. She lets nothing stand in her way while striving to achieve her goals. She has had to raise my brother and I by herself for almost fifteen years and I think that, that is a tremendous accomplishment alone. Never letting us down, she had things to tend to herself.

and is just two semesters away from achieving one of her highest goals, which is to receive her Masters degree in Rehab Counseling. She continues to help out in her work force and even finds time to attend my extracurricular activities.
My mom is an outstanding woman and is the one I look up to. Most people say that they want to be like Mike, but not me. I say, “I want to be like Diane.” She inspires me to keep striving to achieve my goals. She never lets anything keep her down and always has a smile on her face that could brighten up the darkest room. Never embarrassed, she always speaks her mind. When everyone is quiet, she can break the silence with a joke that sends the room in a frienzy.
There is nothing my mom would not do to help someone who is trying. She would give the shirt off of her own back to warm another because that is the type of individual she is. “I do not think we could find a better mom,” I told her, “because they do not make them like you anymore.” ...
