Going into this event, I did not know what to expect. While I knew that it had something to do with Peter Pan and I was familiar with that story from previous classes, I did know how it would relate. Even throughout the majority of the play, I struggled to see the connection, until I became aware that it was a prequel to the original Peter Pan story. Pan. Throughout the entire performance I struggled to find Molly's place in the later story. I grappled with this because of her pivotal part in the story of Peter and the Starcatcher. Ultimately, I thoroughly enjoyed seeing this play, and I thought it did a great job of creating a prequel to a famous story that never really meant to have a prequel. I also though feel that I did not need to have read/seen the original Peter Pan to understand and enjoy the play. Evidenced by my lack of acknowledgment of the original characters for half the show, it can definitely stand on it own as a children's story. The knowledge that I had of Peter Pan only enhanced my enjoyment of the show. I think that this is a very important quality to have as a children's text.
