Gay's writing she talks mostly about the little privacy the public demands from prominent figures. In this day and age we expect information from people who share their lives with the world and the only reason they do it is because most of the time they feel pressured. Public figures feel they need to share their story with everyone for the sole purpose of satisfying their fan base. We feel entitled to label everyone into a category and we force people to come out with their sexuality against their own will just so we feel pleased with the information we obtained for the day. The idea of someone with fame having to share their whole lives with the world is not the responsibility they should have to hold. Roxane Gay says, "It is unfair that prominent cultural figures who come out have to forge these inroads on our behalf; they carry the hopes of so many people on their shoulders.
