their inner problem was without realization. Freud’s theory could always be related to sex, many of the psychologists that will be compared did not use the same form which is what made them unique to psychoanalysis.
Alfred Adler’s theory was psychoanalytic in its unique way. Adler believed that social influences formed personality, and no one but that individual is responsible for who they are. Adler’s theory was primarily conscious. His theory was based on one final goal, and how the individuals accomplish that goal. He was similar to Freud in that there was a mother-infant relationship that influenced them, and the ‘inner freedom’ seems to be unconscious but motivates the individual as well. What makes Adler’s theory psychoanalytic is that he took some of Freud’s theory and expanded it to a more social nature. Karen Horney has an influential psychoanalytic theory because she came up with psychoanalytic social theory. Horney’s theory was based on cultural impact and childhood experiences shaping personality. If needs of love are not fulfilled then hostility, anxiety and interpersonal conflict arrive. She had a more feminine view on psychology made her theory unique. Her theory is similar to the other because she has interpersonal conflicts that are an unconscious tension between the idealized self image and the real self, and she her theory consists of a basic end goal. Her psychotherapy was similar to Freud’s because she used self-analysis, talk therapy, and dream analysis.
