The Smoke Free Air Act (SFAA) was passed in Iowa recently and people have been scuffling back and forth about the law since the day it was passed. Some believe the law is good that it is smoke free in restaurants because the law insures the health of the employees and the customers. Others believe that it is the smokers right to smoke in restaurants. Who is truly right in this argument?
The SFAA was passed in Iowa on April 15, 2008 by Governor Chet Culver. The law was then in effect as of July 1, 2008. The law states that there is to be no smoking in any restaurants, even including bars. People are allowed to smoke outside if there is no food being served or if ...

to small children or non-smokers. Also, the butts that are discarded cause places to become filthy. Studies have also shown that second hand smoke can cause cancer. With all these reasons why would people disagree with the SFAA?
The main crowd that disagrees with this law is that bar owners and customers. Most bar owners feel that it hurts their business because the majority of their customers and smokers and because of the law the owners are losing several customers. The owners of bars also feel that it is unfair because the casinos are allowed to have smoking in the game rooms. Doing this, owners feel that they lose a portion of their business to the casinos. Bars believe that the choice should be up to the restaurant to choose whether or not it is to be smoke free. Many of the smokers complain that it is their right to be able to smoke where they please because it is a free country.
