We should all care. Our future is strongly linked with the state of the world's oceans. Without the ocean our Earth would be a big desert, like the moon and planet Mars. The ocean is Earth's life support which has taken billions of years to form. Without water there cannot be life. Without the oceans there would be no forests, no grasslands, no clouds, no winds, no fish, no people. The sea supports our planet. It determines our weather and climate , controls temperature, and gives to the atmosphere the water vapour that eventually falls back on the land as rain. The oceans give the Earth fresh water for rivers, streams, lakes and us.

on land. Most of Earth's living space, is ocean, about 97%. And also 97% of Earth's water is ocean. There is a greater variety of living creatures in the ocean than anywhere on land. Scientists say that (including microscopic creatures) there may be 10 to 100 million unnamed species on the ocean bed alone. And that it could take up to 5000 years to classify them.
The sea is a very has a very important contribution to human life. We shouldn't take the services that it provides, for granted. Like never before, in the past century, man has removed billions of tons of living creatures from the sea and dumped billions of tons of toxic waste in it without much thought about any consequences. Fish, whales, shrimp and other sea life have become commodities. Instead they should be seen and treated by us as an essential part of a living system on which in the end our lives depend on.
Already we have killed many ocean animals and polluted many water bodies, this can't go on for much longer. ...
