Summer Road Trip

It was a hot and dry summer morning when we packed up the Suburban or as the kids passionately called it “Ms. Burban”. We were on our way to the Seattle, Washington, to pick up my 1968 Firebird convertible that had been in storage since our move from Seattle to Austin. The storage company was going out of business, so we needed to head up to the great Northwest to pick it up.
We drove from Buda, Texas, all the way to New Mexico on the first day. In New Mexico we stopped and took in the view of beautiful mountains. first time our children had ever seen snow. My six year old son Daniel thought he was in Japan, on top of Mount Fuji. The excitement on Joshua, Matthew, Daniel, Aliya, and Kianna’s faces was priceless. Mia was only 4 weeks old, so she does not recall the trip. We made it to Seattle that evening and went down to the waterfront. The next two days were spent siteseeing the awesome Puget Sound and the Cascade Mountain range. As day three arrived, we had to go into Bellevue, Washington, to pick up a trailer, and meet the owner of the storage company to pick up the Firebird.
We started our road trip back that afternoon, and the kids were excited! Twenty two miles into the Snoqualmie Falls Pass “Ms. Burban” started to overheat; it did not like pulling the extra weight up the passes. We were forced to stop and let the SUV cool down.
