Almost every kid across the globe has taken part in playing video games whether it was Nintendo, X-Box, or Sony’s play station. No one can complain that these consoles aren’t fun and amusing but some parents can complain that their children are addicts to these video games. A study shows that one third of kids play video games daily and seven percent of those play over 30 hours a week. (BBC News) In addition, children and teens that play these video are learning violence. without limits, and kill. For example, 18 year old Devin Moore admitted to murdering three people in Fayette, Alabama. Investigators later found out that the 18 year old played Grand Theft Auto for countless hours and consecutive months. Moore has this to say to police also, “Life is like a video game. Everybody’s got to die sometime.”(Moore) This shows how the video game twisted and manipulated the mind of Devin that he could do whatever he wanted without consequence because he believed he was living in the video game. It isn’t just this specific game there are plenty of others like Shadow of Rome, Silent kill, Dead Space, and the list goes on. All these companies are being reviewed by the board of Video games but if you are a mother or father of a child playing violent video games, take it away as fast as you can to teach your child about violence being real.
