In the 1994 Film, The Air Up There, Kevin Bacon play Jimmy Dolan, a college coach ready to recruit his next big star. Dolan is competing for the big promotion to head coach, that's when he decides he needs to bring in an outstanding player to make the team. He decides to go to Wanabi to recruit Saleh after seeing him in a video playing basketball. to Wanabi to seek Saleh it was only for his own personal gain, he wanted the head coach promotion.

Once in Wanabi Dolan finds out that Saleh is the son of the chief to the Wanabi tribe. Saleh is next to take his father's place as chief so he can't leave Wanabi even if he wanted to. Dolan offers to help out around the village to speed up the process to get Saleh to go back with him. Even though Dolan has offered to help out here it's still for his own benefit. Not until the village gets vandalized by Mingori does Dolan see the tribe really needs his help to keep their people safe. At this point in the film Dolan no longer cares about getting Saleh to play for him, but to help the people in Wanabi survive.
