The Art of Listening

Were you aware that women must speak twice as many words as do men so as for others to listen? Why is that? It appears as if women tend to be much more cautious as to how they use language than do men. Women are inclined to be more polite and apologetic. Women need to allow their words to be more efficient and effective. The following 4C's-to be clear, concise, creative and consistent-are suggested to make a skillful approach to alter one's speaking style so as to what is to be said before it is spoken. Keep in mind that the communication process is a two-way street. However, more often than not, it is the listening aspect that is weak for most individuals. Many individuals may hear the message, but if asked to repeat the main theme, cannot restate it. The listener may interrupt the speaker, misinterpret the message, or acquire bias criticism. All these idiosyncrasies prevent a person from truly listening.
Forceful communication requires effective listening skills. Listening objectively is a difficult task, but if a person is able to realize the difference between hearing a message and listening to the speaker, he already possesses positive listening capabilities.
