The Death of Marat was painted in 1973 by Jacques-Louis David. It is an oil and canvas portrait whose dimensions are 162 cm x 128 cm (64 in x 50 in). Currently, it is displayed at the Royal Museum of Fine Arts in Belgium, Brussels.
The Death of Marat is considered one of the most famous Neoclassic images of the French Revolution which was indeed a very important social and political period in the European history (1789-1799). This painting refers to the assassination of Jean-Paul Marat (May 24, 1743 – July 13, 1793) who was killed by Charlotte Corday on July 13, 1793.
