The Life Of Georgia O'Keefe


My name is Georgia Totto O’Keefe, the second child of Francis and Ida O’Keefe. I was born in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin on November 15, 1887. I am of Irish, Hungarian, and Dutch descent.
With five other siblings, I always craved attention and praise from my parents, and always wanted to be thought pretty. As a result of coming from such a large family, I acquired a sense of maturity and independence very early in my life. I first attended the Sacred Heart Academy, a Roman Catholic convent school on the outskirts of Madison, Wisconsin, and then moved on to Chatham Episcopal Institute in the fall of 1903.
