The Loft

Samantha dreamt of ponies and unicorns, of candy and her mom, of her Granny and Papaw, and her dresses and toys. These are the dreams she loves to dream. The dreams that make her smile when she awakes and wish she could go back to sleep. Rover slept by her side dreaming of bones and cats, balls and treats, and of playing and cuddling with Samantha.
All of a sudden the dreams stopped. Samantha was awakened. She felt scared. Samantha doesn’t like the dark; she had begged her parents to get her another night light but they said she would grow used to sleeping in the dark. him to be quiet. She ran to her rope ladder and climbed into her loft behind her bed. The screaming continued. The loud noises continued. It was still dark.
The noises stopped. But she was still scared so she stayed in her loft. She looked at her clock, it says 3:23. It said 1:43 when she woke up. It was still silent. She looked around her loft. It was a very dark and small cutout on her wall up by her ceiling. She didn’t even see it there when they moved in. Her mom made it a surprise. For her birthday she gave her a rope ladder so she could climb into it and a bunch of pillows, blankets, and stuffed animals so she could lay and play up there. Rover had lain down on a big pillow beside her. She laid down too and waited for her mom to come in to see if she was okay. Then she would hold her, tuck her into bed, and stay with her till she fell asleep.
