The Market Revolution occurred during the nineteenth century and transformed the American Economy. Many farmers would grow a surplus of crops and try to sell the extra crops not used by their family to other people and markets for money. This started the development of the American economy because people wanted to sell their products to people all over the nation which sparked the development of roads, railroad, and canals which connected the nation's cities and made transporting goods fast and cheap. Railroads covered over thirty-thousand miles of land and connected almost every main city in America. Railroads made transporting goods and people very fast and way less expensive than before. New roads also made is easier for people to transfer good from one place to another. Roads were made from tightly packing small crushed rocks and they cover over four-thousand miles of land in America. Water canals were another main way of transferring goods in the nineteenth century.
The Market Revolution also had influences from the Government and from ways of communication.
