The Great Depression was a time when people needed someone to take charge and make something happen to better the economy. In 1932 a man named Franklin D. Roosevelt came up with a new strategy called , which he and all Americans hoped would bring their country out of the worst depression it had ever seen. Along with this new deal, came what some would say was the third American revolution.
A revolution involves some sort of change in the way people live, be it either political, social, or economic. The main way in which was a revolution was political. Roosevelt then created the Civilian Conservation Corps, which gave jobs to young Americans, and also diverted their anger at the government. Another major act was the Federal Emergency Relief Act, which gave 500 million dollars to replenish city funds. There were many other acts which Roosevelt introduced that helped Americans a great deal. The important thing about theses acts is that America now had a “big” government. They took control, instead of just letting the people work out there own problems, as had been the custom for some time.
