I am aware that trash has been a big problem in the United States
and in our community, and we must find a way to help this problem. Our
community is adding to the problem and we need to reduce the amount of
trash being produced. We as a community have many options that we can do
to.
Trash is an immense problem in the United States. When people are
not very close to a garbage they decide to use the floor or hand it to
someone else expecting for the problem to be taken care of. Businesses,
restaurants, stores, newspaper stands, and hospitals all contribute to the
mess. When people throw things out it is a good help but due to the fact

recycling has not been done as much as it should be. In New York city we
have one of the world’s most largest and most crowded landfills which is
proven in the article. Fresh Kills landfill, on Staten Island is extremely
big but will be closed in a few years. I New York State there were 1600
landfills in the 1960’s and today the figure is in the hundreds. Trash is
a big problem in our community and is still increasing.
The problem of trash needs to be fixed and there are some things
that we can do. One of the things we can do to help this problem is make
less trash. Many things are overpackaged and if there is less garbage
there will be more room in landfills. People can use bicycles or their
feet rather then using a car because that pollutes the air. Recycling is
a good option if more modern machines are used. People thought it was too
much work to separate garbage and took to much time but to keep us safe we
