(The idea of) Differentiated practice values all nurses and their practice and enables them to know their role" (1991). This nursing model helps to define the role of individual nurses based on their education, nursing experience and their level of competence. As nurses increase their education levels, they would assume more nursing responsibilities, have greater job satisfaction and gain financial rewards. The model for differentiated nursing was also developed to encourage non-BSN prepared nurses to seek further education, as research as shown the more educated the nurse the better patient outcomes.
