This summer one experience I had in nature was swimming across Walden Pond. Walden Pond is half a mile across and more than one hundred feet deep. Walden Pond is a kettle pond which is a pond scooped out by a glacier. It is the deepest lake or pond in Massachusetts. It is usually not very crowded, but occasionally I pass someone else swimming it. I would swim and I would come up out of the water for a moment and get a snapshot of the sun and the sky; then I would go back under the water. Sometimes it is disconcerting to me to know how deep the water is but it is awesome swimming across. I enjoy feeling the water below me and the feeling of weightlessness.
