For this Assignment I chose the topic wheelchair accessibility around the mount for students. The reason why I chose this topic is because when I had my surgery and I was on crutches it changed the way I had to get around school. While crutching around it made me realize how much harder it was for students who were in a wheelchair. While riding in some of the elevators I was able to talk with some of the students that were in wheelchairs, while talking to them I really got to learn their perspective on the way they felt about things. While listening to them talk about many things that causes trouble in their daily routines really made me aware of how hard it is for them to get around. ...

The reason for that is because being in a wheelchair they can only go certain ways around the school and they also have to wait on the elevators. While being on crutches I had to use the elevators a lot and a few of the elevators are slow and very old and the old ones can be a little scary because they don’t seem like they are that safe because of how old they are. Another reason why the elevators take so long sometimes is because if it is close to full it is hard for a wheel chair to fit on it. Another thing that slows them up is waiting on the doors to open when they hit the button to open the door. Whenever I can help by opening a door for them you can see in their face really how thankful they are for doing one little thing.
