Addison's Disease

I chose Addison’s disease because it is a very rare disease that affects my family. The adrenal gland, which produces cortical and other important hormones, in the body stops functioning properly or completely. There are not very many cases of Addison’s disease in the United States, only about 1,555 – 1,866. The causes for Addison’s disease are obvious or unknown, like with my dad’s.
Some known causes of Addison’s disease are damage to the adrenal gland and loss of too much blood causing the adrenal gland to ‘over’ work, releasing too much cortisol into the body.
