Before I came to Claflin University, I believed that college was serious work and I had to come with the right mindset. For the fall semester, I did very well. I went to class, did community service and even tried to join some organizations. I passed all of my classes except for two. The classroom experience was nice. The classrooms are small and you can really get information out of them. You do a lot of hands on work and actually get into the lesson. One thing that I did learn was that I had to learn how to make ends meet because I no longer had a job. I ate noodles and drank water a lot. In college, we call that a rich girl meal. you must take notes and find time to study. I really didnā€™t study so I made mostly Cā€™s on all my test and quizzes. The first thing Claflin teaches you is time management. As a upperclassman, that really means a lot. I spent plenty of nights trying to finish work before 11:59.
College is that bad though. Yes, it stresses you out but I know it's worth it. I know that this year I have to leave bad habits alone and gain new perspectives. Being here at Claflin I feel the family bondage that this community has. Everyone wants to see you do good and make it out of here.
